Undefeated Watford made the perfect start to the weekend of men's Division 3 competition in their home pool when they won their top-of-the-table clash with City of Birmingham 14-11.
Birmingham made the better start, racing into a 5-1 lead by the beginning of the second period with goals by Ben Cartwright (2), Matt Foulds (2) and Jason Culloo.

But Watford claimed the lead for the first time at 7-6 at the start of the third period, which they then dominated, scoring six times through Richard Hime (2), Nandor Cseh (2), James Warman and Samir Barac.

Southampton made sure of a top five place and progress to Championship 2 with a 9-6 success against Otter. They were joined later by Hucknall, who followed up a 12-10 defeat of York City with a 8-6 victory over bottom team University of Bristol.
