It's a major blow to BWPL, but the club took the decision reluctantly due to the non-availability of several players next season. Portobello hope at some point to retain links with the League by entering a development team.
BWPL chairman David Andrews said today: "Portobello have contributed fully to the League over the past decade, climbing divisions in the then men's National League to become a permanent fixture in the top flight. In addition, the club hosted a superb event when the League first ventured north of the border in 2012."
Portobello's departure forces a reshuffle in the League's divisions at the start of the 2015/16 campaign. Scotland will still be represented in Division One as Caledonia, fourth in Championship 1, will now move up. Other changes:
West London Penguin go up to Division 2.
Southampton move up to Division 3.
Bedford go to Division 4 instead of Division 5.
