Just 1.21 remained when Katy Cutler’s sixth goal of the game edged Otter into a 12-11 lead. With 14 seconds left, Otter had a player excluded and Vicki Hawkins stepped up to equalise and claim her fifth goal – with just one second to go!
City of Manchester top the table after cruising to an 18-3 victory over Sheffield Sharks. There were eight different Manchester scorers, led by Annie Clapperton, with four.
Manchester’s men had a much tougher examination against Lancaster before winning 12-10 in the men’s Super 5s. Lancaster held a 3-1 early advantage and briefly edged 7-6 up at the start of the third period with a goal by Tom Curwen. However, the rest of that quarter saw Manchester take charge and build an 11-7 lead with strikes by Alvaro Fernandez, Joel Leighton, Aaron Winstanley (2) and Dan Paddon.
Having lost their first four matches of the Super 5s, Cheltenham bounced back with their second win of the weekend – 8-7 against Sheffield. A close match throughout reached 6-6 in the last period when two Joe Hubble goals gave Cheltenham the edge.
