TOP BWPL AWARDS FOR GB OLYMPIANS

15/5/2017

Two outstanding members of Great Britain's 2012 Olympic teams were honoured at the BWPL's annual meeting in Birmingham (14 May) with the award of the Columbus Direct Trophies for the most valuable players of the League's 2016/17 season.

They are Rosie Morris, who played such an influential role as goalkeeper of women's champions Liverpool Lizards; and Rob Parker, a consistent star performer for men's winners Cheltenham.

At the meeting, Liverpool's Gordon Dacre revealed that Rosie and another Liverpool Olympian, Hazel Musgrove, have now announced their retirements from top competition.

The new Dave Warriner Memorial Trophy (created in memory of the former Basildon club stalwart to recognise an individual's outstanding contribution to water polo and the League), was awarded to Trevor Hyde, a tribute to his many years' service in numerous roles.

Top goalscorer trophies (Super 5s): Annie Clapperton (Manchester), Tom Curwen (Lancaster).
