Polytechnic completed a memorable season when they beat City of Manchester 10-7 to clinch the men's Champions Cup at Coventry today.
The League champions were never really sure of completing a very special double success until the final quarter, which began with Joel Leighton scoring for Manchester to cut Poly's lead to 8-7. A smart goal by Nick Hook eventually put Poly 9-7 up and then a penalty, converted by skipper Kimon Haralambous, settled it.
The trophy and medals were presented by BWPL President Trevor Pledger. Referees were Max Gerasimov and visiting Maltese official Alex Deraffaele.
Third place match: Penguin 13, Sutton & Cheam 7.
