Otter's long journey to Lancaster for the hastily-rearranged group of matches was richly rewarded as they pulled off a 5-4 victory over champions Liverpool Lizards and picked up two more points when Sheffield Sharks withdrew due to weather problems.
The London side's success leaves them a point above Liverpool with two games to play and two points above Manchester. So a three-way struggle for honours is guaranteed at Haberdasher's School, with Otter's clash against Manchester one of the key fixtures.
Liverpool recovered from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 at one stage in their match with Otter, but a Robyn Greenslade goal and Katie Cutler penalty edged Otter 4-3 up at the end of the third period. Cutler netted again halfway through the last and Liverpool were unable to reply until they converted a penalty with 42 seconds left on the clock.
