Otter set the pace early on, building a 4-1 lead, but a six-goal salvo in the second period saw the Lizards recover to go 11-7 ahead. They stretched the advantage to 14-10, only for the London side to stage a dramatic last period fightback, led by Emily Campbell-Lamerton and Rebecca Mulcahy, who both scored twice.

In the men’s Super 5s, Solihull opened with a 10-7 win against Cheltenham, repeating their success when the sides met in the final game of the Division 1 programme. Cheltenham pulled level at 7-7 only for Solihull to clinch the points with goals in the final quarter by Pawal Wielogorski, Ryan Padbury and Arthur Davies.
In women’s Championship 1, India Wilkinson scored seven in Hucknall’s 14-11 success against City of Bristol.
