Otter staged a tremendous rally in the final two minutes to steal a 9-8 victory over Coventry in women’s Division 1 at Haberdashers today (13 November).
When the final period began, the teams were level at 6-6. Two strikes by Vicki Hawkins then edged Coventry into an 8-6 lead before Mhairi Nurthen and Katy Cutler equalised. Then, after a flurry of time-outs, Rebecca Mulcahy netted the Otter winner - with just one second remaining!
Hucknall scored seven goals without reply in the second quarter – by Cara Dunsbee (4) and India Wilkinson (3) - on the way to a 14-7 win against Caledonia.
Runaway leaders City of Manchester once again emphasised their overall superiority, hammering Tyldesley 25-7 and then Sheffield Sharks 26-8 at East Manchester. Liverpool Lizards ensured a place in the Super 5s with a 21-15 victory over Tyldesley.
