During the negotiations, BWPL produced a plan that would have incorporated the competition within the League’s season. “We believed this would have brought significant benefits, not just on behalf of the best young players in this country but to the sport as a whole,” explained League chairman David Andrews.
“Unfortunately, although there were constructive talks lasting several months, the proposal failed on the basis that, due to limitations imposed by their funding cycles, Swim England could not agree to the key, long-term financial agreement we requested.”
