Previously, Manchester had won all seven fixtures in Division 1, followed by their two opening matches in the Super 5s. But a shaky first period proved their downfall on this occasion as Lancaster charged into a 4-0 lead - with all goals scored by Alex Parsonage.
Manchester caught up to 4-3 in the second period, netting through Aaron Winstanley, Rob Rae and Charles Booth.
But the oddity of only one team scoring in each quarter continued to the end. The third period saw Lancaster stretch their advantage to 7-3 with goals by Glen Robinson, Ryan Pinington and Tom Curwen. The only goal of the final period was claimed by Rae.
