Goal-hungry Liverpool Lizards followed up a 22-3 defeat of Sheffield Sharks with a 15-6 victory over champions Otter at Sunderland Aquatic Centre today (16 November). Liverpool goals: Fiona McCann (3), Hazel Musgrove, Laura Hesketh, Kathryn Fowler, Alice Byrne, Grace Rowland, Lauren Tasker (2 each).
It meant the Lizards and City of Coventry were the only teams to win their opening fixtures on the first weekend of Super 5s action. Coventry, who face Liverpool when the next round takes place at Luton Sports Village on 29/30 November, beat City of Manchester for the first time at Super 5s level - 9-8 - and then defeated Otter 8-6.
Manchester gained late consolation at Sunderland when they outplayed Sheffield 13-2, including three goals apiece for Casey Smith and Emma Bartlett.
