After walloping 2nd City Birmingham 30-5 on day one of the men's Division Five weekend at Marlborough College, Ealing must have hoped for more points against Invicta Marlins (19 October).
Even with Linas Liudzius proving a real powerhouse for Ealing up front - he scored eight times - Invicta were in no mood to be brushed aside. Counterattacking strongly, they held a narrow lead for a long period and the match was on a knife-edge at 12-12 at the start of the final quarter. Twice, Liudzius then gave Ealing a single-goal lead, only for Ollie Grauers to equalise right at the end and force a 14-14 draw.
Castleford maintained their winning run, beating Bedford 18-8, including a six-goal haul for Luke Franks and five from Sam Parry. Dover beat Sheffield Dolphins 7-5, finding it hard to beat talented young goalkeeper Peter Deutsch.
