Poly led 4-1 early in the second quarter but Sheffield soon caught up, eventually grabbing an 11-9 advantage with Leighton's final goal with 1.27 to go. Chris Icely pulled one back for the London team 24 seconds from the final hooter - too late to salvage a point.
There was another tight finish as Welsh Wanderers held on for a 12-11 victory over Caledonia. Dan Laxton's six-goal haul helped the Wanderers build a 12-8 lead in the final quarter. Andrew Campbell, Chris Campbell and Darren Campbell replied but the Scots couldn't salvage a point.
Yet another close match saw Team Northumbria drop their first point of the season when a Callum Bailey goal 49 seconds from the end earned Invicta an 11-11 draw. Zach White was again the dominant player for Northumbria, contributing six goals.
