The game was fairly even all the way through and reached 5-5 with three minutes remaining in the third period. It was only then that the goal-scoring power of Tom Curwen and Glen Robinson began to tell as Lancaster edged ahead and built what appeared to be a winning lead of 9-6 with less than four minutes left.

There was an even tighter finish as Worthing pulled off a spectacular 8-7 victory over Team Northumbria in Championship 1. Northumbria bossed the early exchanges, taking a 3-0 lead, but Worthing gradually fought back and eventually went ahead for the first time at 7-6 with four minutes to go.
Just 39 seconds remained when Josh Brown levelled for Northumbria. Then, 19 seconds from the end, Northumbria had a player excluded, allowing Richard Hooper to hit the winner . . . with 12 seconds left.
