Birmingham made a determined start, taking the lead after just 16 seconds through Hannah Hinton. But by the early stages of the second period, Marlins had taken charge, going 5-1 up with goals by Abby-Louise Rocky (3) and Annah Bowles (2). Marlins' success put them level on points with unbeaten City of Bristol at the top of the table.
Later, Bristol had no difficulty collecting their fourth win of the campaign, beating Manchester Comets 12-4. Emily Watkins scored three and there were two each for Sophie Thomas, Alice Dobbs and Amy Potter. Marlins also enjoyed a stroll in their second match - 22-5 against Welsh Wanderers.
Sheffield Stingrays came from 6-3 down in the final period to draw 6-6 with Southampton, the final goal coming 1.20 from the end through Anna Motley - who won't be 13 until next month!
