Between Hucknall taking a 2-0 lead in the first period and Abby-Louise Rocky's goal edging Marlins into a 3-2 lead at the start of the last, there were a small matter of 11 exclusions, a missed penalty and two time-outs.
Hucknall quickly levelled again at 3-3 through Laura Woodfield and grabbed a 4-3 victory two minutes from the end when the excellent Marlins goalkeeper Amy Styles conceded a penalty by pushing the ball underwater while under heavy pressure on the goal line. Rachael Endy converted.
Both teams are already guaranteed places in Championship 1 in the second phase of the season, along with Welsh Wanderers, whose win against Tyldesley completed a hat-trick of victories during the weekend.
