Hawks will still move up to Division 2 next September. They finished level on points with Worthing, but finished in the top three thanks to a narrow win over Worthing earlier in the season.
It was tough on Worthing, who enjoyed an excellent final weekend with victories over Castleford, 14-8, and, today, against Durham Palatinates, 16-10. The Durham game was a close affair – 8-8 half way through the third period before Worthing scored three quick goals through Ben Curtis, Sam Cooper and Joao Martins. Durham recovered again to trail 11-10 but the final period saw Worthing break clear again through Martins (3), George Wood and Elliot Hurst.
Otter made sure of the other promotion place with a hard-earned 11-9 victory over Birmingham. It was 6-6 early in the third period and, thanks to a Drazen Videc hat-trick, Birmingham recovered from 9-6 down to trail 10-9 before Nicholas Corjon ensured an Otter win 46 seconds from the end.
