In one of the more incident-packed matches of the season, City of Bristol beat Mid Sussex Marlins 11-8 at Marlborough College. MSM led 4-0 after the first period but, with Bristol goalkeeper Poppy Ellman (Photo: Trevor Hyde) in outstanding form, Bristol hit back to level at 4-4 by the start of the third period.
At 5-5, Bristol lost a player to a brutality offence - which proved not too much of a handicap as, remarkably, the depleted team scored twice without reply during the next four minutes. Even then, MSM recovered to lead again at 8-7 in the last quarter before goals by Anna Kilb, Harriet Robinson, Hanna Leeson and Diana Teggi saw Bristol home.
Penguin Emperors completed a third win at East Manchester - 14-4 against Liverpool Liver Birds. Catie du Toit scored five.
