Congratulations to English Roses - including BWPL President Pippa Jones - who claimed a bronze medal at the European Masters Championships in Rijeka, Croatia.
Roses entered the competition for 30+ teams, although, as Pippa reports: "We had the oldest players by some considerable margin, including five over-50s!"
In the first stage, Roses lost to strong teams from ASD Argentario (Italy) and Germany's ETV Hamburg - and also went down 7-5 to Stepp Prague. It meant that the Prague team and the Roses met again in the bronze medal play-off - and this time the result was very different.
In a match where the lead changed hands several times, the Roses eventually squeezed home 8-7, thanks to a goal 33 seconds from the final hooter by Liz Palmer.
