Liverpool Lizards made a positive start to the defence of their women's Super 5s title with at 8-4 victory over Otter at Leeds University today.
They didn't have it all their own way - the London side took an early lead with goals by Claudia Ferrone and Brooke Tafazolli. Liverpool had levelled at 2-2, however, by the end of the first period and took charge by scoring three times without response in the second period through Fiona McCann, Alice Byrne and Kathryn Fowler.
In Championship 2, Southampton outplayed Leeds Hammerheads 13-3. There were three goals for Katy Cutler and two each for Megan Fletcher, Sarah Rogers and Aimee Dannan.
Manchester Comets' 8-4 victory over Sunderland featured six goals by Isabel Larder, who is just 15.
