Carlisle and Exeter may be far apart geographically - but there was little to separate them in a goal-crazy Division Three match at Grantham (4 October), which the northerners eventually won 18-17.
For much of the game Carlisle held a narrow advantage - 6-5 after the first quarter, then 9-7 after two. Exeter recovered to lead 14-13 at the start of the last but then lost their way and were soon 18-15 in arrears. Even then, there was still time for Exeter to score twice more - in the last 32 seconds - but too late to deny Carlisle the points. Robinson (6) and Matt Grieve (5) were the chief Carlisle marksmen.
Solihull remain top despite being held to a 9-9 draw by Worthing. The Midlanders scored six times in the third quarter on the way to a 12-5 win against Hucknall.
