City of Cambridge today claimed the victory they needed to clinch the men's Championship 3 title at Gloucester.
The final day of competition began with Castleford moving top by one point courtesy of a 23-14 win against Ealing. Ten of their goals were scored by Declan Thompson.
It was then left to Cambridge to account for Bridgefield. They made hard work of it at times but eventually won 15-11. The trophy was presented to Cambridge captain Hamish Crichton by former Cheltenham and Great Britain goalkeeper Martyn Thomas.
Cheltenham Spartans beat York City 21-12, which ensured third spot and promotion for Ealing alongside Cambridge and Castleford.
