In the best game of the women's Division 3 programme at Marlborough College, City of Bristol beat Mid Sussex Marlins 7-4, ending the Marlins' unbeaten record.
Both goalkeepers - Bristol's Poppy Elliman and Amy Styles, of Marlins - excelled in the closely fought early quarters and it wasn't until the final period that Bristol finally broke clear with goals by Emily Watkins (2) and Heather Tomlinson.
City of Birmingham enjoyed an outstanding weekend, winning all their three matches. In the 8-2 victory over Sunderland, there were two goals each for Jessica Arthur, Claire O'Sullivan and Hannah Hinton.

And there was an introduction to BWPL reffing for Cambridge's James Poole. The pair got chatting - and discovered that both had celebrated their 19th birthdays on 9 October!
