Birmingham turned the tables on Cambridge when they opened the men's Championship 2 campaign with a 10-5 victory at Grantham today.
When the sides met in Division 3 last October, Cambridge were comfortable 12-8 winners. And they made the ideal start today, building a 5-2 lead at the start of the third period when Hamish Crichton bagged his thrid goal.
Birmingham pulled up to 5-5 by the end of the third - and there was only one side in it after that as the Midlanders eased clear with goals by Jason Culloo (2), Oliver Parkes, Adam Williams and Dan Mason.
Welsh Wanderers finished strongly against Ealing after an even opening half to win 13-9. Later, a seven-goal flourish in the third period ensured Wanderers' second victory - 14-6 against Birmingham.
Ealing also dominated the third quarter against Cambridge, progressing from 8-8 to lead 12-9 before running out winners 16-14.
