The miserable start to the season for British League men's champions City of Manchester continued when they suffered a second defeat at Guildford (22 November) - 11-10 to Portobello.
The Scots made a positive start, leading 4-0, but Manchester slowly battled their way back into the match and pulled level at 9-9 in the third period. The last three minutes produced no goals - despite each side having a man-up chance and both calling a time-out.
Cheltenham were comfortable winners of the West Country derby against Bristol Central - 17-8. Mark Banwell scored six of the Cheltenham goals.
