Rotherham had started well, leading 3-2 after the first period. But Southampton took control in the second and ended up comfortable winners at 15-9 – including goals by Charles Roberts (4), Dan Shunn (3) and Jacob Graham (3).
Adam Toone and Lee Cadwllader both scored four as Bridgefield outplayed a young Cheltenham Spartans team 17-5.
Hucknall were 6-5 down against Croydon in the second period but then goals by Tom Ballaam, Peppe Valentino and Sam Loveridge put Hucknall on track for an 11-9 win. Addison Brown scored six and Robert Simpson five in Manchester Hawks’ 16-13 victory over Otter.
Later, Croydon completed their first win - 15-8 against Otter.

Chelmsford's MP Marie Goldman was among those present and took responsibility for dropping the ball on halfway at the start of the first game - definitely a BWPL first!
